The North American Carillon School
The carillon was created as a folk instrument in Flanders during the 15th century. Because of the size, cost, and rare nature of the instrument, only a few carillons were installed in North America by the end of the 19th century. With so few carillons, there was no need for a dedicated school to teach the art in America. But times have changed!
Today, there are over 600 carillons in the world and almost a third of them are found in North America. The North American Carillon School was founded to supply those instruments with qualified carillonneurs – musicians who play the carillon. The school is the premiere educational organization on this continent to learn the carillon and be a successful musician of the craft.
