Fourth of July
July 4, 2024 | 1:30-3:00pm (Eastern)
New Jersey Ave. and Constitution Ave. NW
Washington, D.C. 20001
This Fourth of July, let freedom ring at the annual concert on bells from the tranquil Taft Memorial and Carillon – just steps from Union Station and the Mall. By resolution of Congress, the Carillonneur of the Capitol plays "The Star-Spangled Banner" and other patriotic favorites from the 11-story tower at 2:00pm every Independence Day.
Bring your own blanket and refreshments, invite your friends and family, and enjoy the cascading notes of bells from the shaded memorial knoll. This event is free and open to everyone. Listening events like this one are self-guided and take place outdoors (no indoor access).
This year marks Carillonneur of the Capitol Jim Saenger's 50th anniversary manning the bells for the Fourth of July celebration. Join us to commemorate a milestone!
